HOMILY FOR SATURDAY OF THE EIGHTH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME (29/5/2021)

HOMILY FOR SATURDAY OF THE EIGHTH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME (29/5/2021)

 ECCLESIASTICUS 51:12-20; PSALM 19; MARK 11:27-33

The first reading invites us to seek wisdom. Wisdom is defined as knowledge, and the capacity to make due use of it. Let us seek wisdom that we may be guided in all we do. Wisdom alone enables a man to meet and overcome dangers. Wisdom brings success; it is profitable to direct (Eccl 10:10). Similarly, the Gospel expressed the wisdom of Jesus over the folly of the chief priests and the scribes who questioned his authority. Jesus knew that answering their question would lead only to further argument. Then he applied wisdom. Eccl.2:13 says wisdom exceeds folly, just as light exceeds darkness. May the Lord give us the wisdom to know when, where and  how to speak and act. May we find the wisdom to conquer our enemies.

LET US PRAY

Father, we pray for enough wisdom, that we may be able to discern which path is right for us and which one we should avoid. Lord Jesus, bless us with wisdom, and give us the ability to make the best judgments in any scenario we find ourselves. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.
