What is dominion? According to the Oxford Dictionary, dominion means influence, power, control, sovereignty, being in charge etc. Dominion is having the Holy Spirit, grace, power, blessings, knowledge, wisdom and glory of God to manage things. Obviously,  when you are in charge of something you have dominion over it. In this sense,  humans are in charge of the world on behalf of God. The most famous use of the word “dominion” occurs in the Christian Bible, when God grants people dominion over other animals. When the Spirit of God controls your life you will be walking in dominion.  Genesis 1: 27- 28 says  that , God blessed man and said “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it and have dominion, take charge or have control over the fish of the sea. The birds of the air and over very living creature that moves upon the earth” Thus,  God  gives us the power to have and walk in dominion.

Again, walking in dominion  means obeying God’s commandments and living   actively according to  God’s will, His desires and His wishes for us.  Walking in dominion means having an enjoying an intimate relationship with God. If you are walking in dominion, God has promised us a just reward and not fruitlessness (Isaiah 45:17-19).  If you walk in dominion and obey God, the blessings of God  will be your portion. If you walk in dominion God said in Matthew 18:18  I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatsoever you shall bind on earth, is bound in heaven and whatsoever you shall loose on earth, is loosed in heaven.  If  you are walking in dominion, you should have faith, trust and confidence in God, Luke 17: 6 states that if your faith is as big  as a mustard seed, you can say to the mulberry tree, pull yourself up by the root and be planted in the sea and it will obey you.  Mark 16:17-18 states that these signs shall follow them that believe and walk in dominion; in my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents, and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them. They shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover. Child of God are you walking in dominion? Is your family walking in dominion? Search your heart and decide today to establish a firm relationship with God and walk in dominion.

Factors that prevent us from walking in dominion.

  1. Roman 3:23 states that all have sinned and fallen short of the honour and glory which God bestows.
  2. Psalm 106:6 states that we have sinned, as did also our fathers. We have committed iniquity, we have done wickedly.
  3. Cult: Belonging to evil cults , witchcraft covens, evil relationships etc.
  4. Fear: Fear of ancestral shrines, yokes, bonds curses, initiation, etc.
  5. Immoralities: Fornication, prostitution, gay, lesbianism, sodomy etc
  6. Idolatry: Visiting native doctors and participating in evil sacrifices,
  7. Vices: Stealing, kidnapping, cheating, telling lies, deceit, jealousy, pride, gossip and other wrong doings or fraudulent activities.

What challenges are impeding your relationship with God? God is calling you today. Repent avoid sin and enjoy walking in dominion with God. Psalm 51 states that even though our sins are as red as scarlet, God will forgive us, cleanse us and make us as white as snow. The fathers of old, the prophets, the saints and many good Christians lived , walked and operated under dominion. Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, Joshua, Joseph , Elijah, Elisha, Mother Mary,   St. Augustine, St. Vincent De Paul, St. Patrick, and the likes. God bless you!
