Isaiah 7:1-9; Psalm 48: Matthew 11:20-24
The first reading tells us about the fall of Judah because of King Ahaz lack of faith and trust in God. After all Isaiah told King Ahaz that the Lord will do for him, Ahaz went ahead to forged alliance with the King of Assyria against the kings of Syria and Isreal. He forged this alliance with the King of Assyria instead of trusting in the Lord and so Judah was brought low. Beloved, when faith fails, power fails. Without belief there is no relief. In the battles of life; have faith and you shall prevail. Precisely because of this, Jesus lamented over Chorazin, Bethsaida and Capernaum in the gospel. After all their spiritual experiences they remained faithless. For us; of what use or benefit is our spiritual experience today? Are we also faithless?
Prayer for Faith
Jesus, King of Kings, You say that the righteous man will live by faith. Mold me in Your image and fill my heart with faith in You. Guide my actions so that I can live by faith and have a life in You, abundantly and eternally. Cleanse my thoughts of impurities, dear God. Keep my eyes fixed on You and You alone. Help me be steadfast in my trust in You and Your Scriptures so that I can live right in Your holy sight. Amen.
