Hosea 10:1-3, 7-8, 12; Psalm 105; Matthew 10:1-7
In the gospel, Jesus sent out his disciples with the instruction to “proclaim the good news of the kingdom of heaven” (Matt.10:7). Jesus sent them on a mission of teaching, healing and restoration of the lost sheep of the house of Israel. Hosea in the first reading embarked also on a mission of calling the people to repentance. Hosea pleads with the people to change their ways and return to the Lord. Let us pray that the Lord will help us understand the missionary dimension of our faith. And so, if the Church does not send; it will end. Mike Stachura once said that “The mark of a great church is not its seating capacity, but its sending capacity.” Lord God bless us with missionary zeal and the will of witnessing to our immediate and distant neighbours.
PRAYER FOR MISSION
O God, who would have all His children to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth, send forth, we beseech you, laborers into your harvest and grant them with all confidence to preach the Word; that everywhere your Gospel may be heard and glorified, and that all nations may know you, the one True God, and Him whom you have sent, Jesus Christ, your Son, our Lord. Amen.
