1 Kings 21:17-29; Psalm 51; Matthew 5:43-48🗣🔥🔥
The first reading today is a continuation of yesterday’s reading and in it Elijah told Ahab that for the evil he has done disaster shall come upon him. Having heard the predicted doom, Ahab humbled himself before God and repented. Anyone who hears God’s warning either through the priests or the teaching authority of the Church ought to repent. Beloved, while there is still time, return to God. The Psalm of today is a plea for mercy, asking God for forgiveness and restoration; while in the Gospel, Christ invites us to perfection. Therefore, through repentance and constant plea for mercy we express goodwill for perfection and God comes in to help us by his grace to attain it. If we don’t express goodwill the grace may not be there. Resolve to repent.
